Bloor, a 26-year-old magician from Albuquerque has created an entertainment business that focuses on helping other businesses become more successful. Bloor just completed his second consecutive year in an entertainment partnership with the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and internationally recognized event which draws over 750,000 spectators. From the outside it looks like his job is that of any other entertainer, show up, do some magic, and go home. “To the average person, it’s just a magic show. And that’s fine,” Bloor says, “But the reality is that my job is to improve guest relations, help create a brand loyalty and increase profits.” Throughout the Street Magic LIVE! show, which is performed along concession row, Bloor is continually promoting other upcoming events at the Balloon Fiesta and equally, but almost more importantly, promoting the vendors around concession row. It’s an important distinction that makes Street Magic LIVE! more than just a magic show, and Bloor more than just a magician. Recognizing that vendors may spend tens of thousands of dollars for a booth at the Fiesta, Bloor carefully weaves product plugs into his show. Whether mentioning the quilt raffle or casual mention of Hello Deli’s breakfast burritos, Bloor makes sure to promote the companies around him which in turn increases profitability and helps create a brand recognition. “Robert has been plugging our business and helps vendors right and left,” said Maria Casmus of Hello, Deli! “He draws the crowd, talks about the vendors and then those customers come to us and we appreciate it very much.” Hello, Deli! was declared this year’s Best Breakfast Burrito at the Fiesta by 93.3 KOB-FM. How A Magic Show Can Improve Guest Relations. “The simple fact is that people want more bang for their buck,” Bloor says. In the case of the Balloon Fiesta, after 700 balloons lift off, there are 10,000 people left on the field with not much to do but look around or leave. The Street Magic LIVE! show is designed to be an audience-interactive, comedy magic show. This provides people with something fun, exciting and different to do at the Fiesta after the main attractions have lifted off the field. The result?
